Cell Phone Repair Pre-Repair Information

Before you bring in your cell phone for repair at Phone Guru, we ask that you take the steps outlined on this page. Following these steps will ensure that the cell phone repair will go smoothly and will allow us to get your phone up and running again quickly.

Backup your device before you bring it in

Phone Guru will not be held liable for any information lost on your device while we are performing the repair. Data loss is extremely rare and in fact, it has never happened to us while performing a repair. However, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Cell phones are very unpredictable and you never know what can happen. It is for this reason we ask all our customers to back up their data on their phones before they bring it in. Backing up the data on your phone is extremely easy and can usually be done in minutes using the software that comes with your phone (iTunes, Google Drive, Blackberry World).

We might need access to your device

Once the repair is completed on your cell phone we will need to get in for testing. We will test out the fact that all the base functions are working properly. For us to be able to do this, we will require your passcode or the unlock pattern for your phone.

You can choose to remove the password, pin, or pattern lock. Alternatively, you could provide the unlock instructions to us or just factory reset your phone before you bring it in.

If you’re performing a factory reset on your device, make sure that you run through the setup wizard on the phone and get it to a point where we can access all the features. Please do not leave the phone on the setup wizard.

In most cases, simple phone & tablet repairs such as a screen repair do not require access to your device so you do not need to provide us with access in those cases.

Make sure that your device has a charge

In order to diagnose the problem correctly and efficiently, your device has to have at least a 30% battery charge.

Waiting to charge up your phone at our location will add unnecessary delays to the phone repair process. It will take that much longer for you to get your device back.
